AR Eye Disease Simulation Outreach at HKSKH St. Barnabas' Church
Date: 08/03/2026
Students from our Medical Club conducted a community service activity at HKSKH St. Barnabas' Church, where they organized an Augmented Reality (AR) Eye Disease Simulation experience for elderly participants. Utilizing AR technology, the students simulated the visual effects of common eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma, helping participants understand how these conditions affect daily life.
During the activity, students explained the causes and symptoms of various eye diseases, guided the elderly through the AR simulation, and emphasized the importance of regular eye examinations and eye health awareness. By applying the biological and medical knowledge they gained in school, the students transformed classroom learning into meaningful community service, embodying the Medical Club's core value: "Not to be served, but to serve."
